In 1961, Citroën sold a saloon whose rear window leaned the wrong way. France split over it; the Ami 6 became the national best-seller.

That reversed window was not a provocation: it freed up the boot and kept the rain off the glass. An engineer’s idea that has become, sixty years on, an instantly recognisable signature.
