A project run at the margins of the range by a handful of engineers. Volkswagen was counting on five thousand cars.
Launched in 1976 with 110 horsepower, Bosch injection and less than 900 kilos, the Golf GTI created an entire category. Golf-ball gear knob, red pinstripe around the grille, tartan seats: the codes were set from the start. More than 400,000 cars were built before the second generation arrived.
The Overcut sweatshirt pairs 320 gsm fleece with a brushed inner face and a lightly dropped oversize fit. The high-density embroidery, done in France, renders the car’s silhouette precisely and survives the wash. Available in Écru, French Marine and Kaki.
