A V12 mounted crosswise behind the driver. In 1966, the Miura set the layout every supercar would copy.

The bare chassis was shown at Turin in 1965; the body, drawn by Marcello Gandini at Bertone, followed at Geneva the next year. Its four-litre V12 sits transversely in a mid-rear position, a first on a road car. Around 760 cars built through 1973.
